Memorial Day Remembrance
This weekend let us remember all the veterans who served our country from the Revolutionary War until today. I will be thinking of my late father, Dr. William E. Josey, who at age 19 served on the destroyer/mine-sweeper USS Ellyson in the South Pacific during the Second World War. The Ellyson was the first warship to enter Tokyo Harbor after the surrender of Japan. Naval archives contain a photo (attached below) of this historic event. Dad is one of the sailors at the rail watching the show. We aren't sure which one he is, but he told us he remembered it well.
