State Salary Minimums for 2024

The federal minimum pay rate for salaried, overtime exempt employees is $684 per week ($35,568 per year), and it rarely changes (a change is currently proposed by the Department of Labor, but its implementation is uncertain). But there are states that impose a much higher rate. These rates generally change at the start each calendar year. Here are the state rates for 2024 that are higher than the federal minimum:

Alaska: $938.40 per week.

California: $1,280 per week (computer employee salary: A monthly salary of $9,646.96 and an annual salary of $115,763.35, or computer employee hourly: $55.58 per hour).

Colorado: $1,057.69 per week (computer employee hourly rate not published yet).

Maine: $816.35 per week.

New York: $1,200 per week in New York City and Nassau, Suffolk, and Westchester Counties. $1,124.20 per week in other counties.

Washington: $1,302.40 per week.
